We connect to airlines using a new technology, NDC (New Distribution Capability). This means we can get the best prices, plus great extras.
You can get access to airlines' best prices through Duffel because we connect to their IT systems through "direct connections".
For most of our airline partners, we connect using a new technology called NDC, which stands for "New Distribution Capability". You can read more about NDC on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website here.
We don't go through the traditional GDSs which have powered the industry since the 1980s. These GDSs rely on airlines' published fares and schedules, and then they put them together to make their search results. Airlines have to pay these GDS providers a fee for each booking they process.
We go direct to airlines' systems to get our search results, which we call "offers". Since there are no GDS fees to pay, this saves airlines lots of money, so they reward you with lower prices.
Soon, our NDC connections to airlines will bring great new features to Duffel. You'll be able to book "ancillaries" like bags and lounge access with flights, and we'll be able to offer personalised pricing, tailored to your customers.
We're a Level 4 certified NDC aggregator, which means that IATA have checked our airline integrations and confirmed that we support "Full Offer and Order
Management".
